The Counter-Culture of Christ
“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:43-45)
As Tanner has been preaching on the counter-culture of Christ the last two weeks we have been challenged to reflect on how we live. Tanner pointed out that most people think the church is full of hypocrites. Are we hypocrites?
-
Do we pursue the things of this world before the things of God?
-
Do we stand in judgment of others?
-
Are we anxious to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ?
Paul Tripp wrote, “Whatever rules the heart will exercise inescapable influence over the person's life and behavior.” Let's pray that Christ will rule our hearts.
We would love for you to join us in prayer this Friday. If you can make it in person we will meet in the parking lot behind city hall in Medford Square at 6:30 AM. If you can not make it in person, you can sign-up to receive a copy of the prayer guide and submit prayer requests here.
